Donald  “Red Dog” Sawyers, age 59, of Hamilton, died on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Ft. Hamilton Hospital.

Don was born on April 18, 1948, in Hamilton, the son of L D Sawyers and the late Jacqueline (Hoskins) Sawyers. He was a 1967 graduate of Ross High School. In Hamilton, Ohio, on December 10, 1976, Don married Sherry R. Tompkins. He was employed for 38 years with G. E. retiring in June of 2003. Don was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during Vietnam with the Blackhorse F-Troop 2nd Battalion of the 11th Calvary. He enjoyed camping and motorcycling. Don is survived by his wife of over 31 years, Sherry; his father, L D Sawyers of Hamilton; three daughters, Jacqueline Perkins of Berry, Kentucky, Carolyn Plummer of Hamilton, Ohio, and Cynthia Ford and husband B.J. of St. Paul, Minnesota; five grandchildren Tylor, Taylor, Tanner, Bobby and Erin. A grandchild, Tristin Perkins, and a brother, Gerald Sawyers, also preceded Don in death. Family and friends will be received at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, from 5:30-7:30pm. Services will follow at 7:30pm with Rev. Kim L. Katterheinrich officiating and a DAV military service.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Don’s name to the DAV Chapter 15, P.O. Box 1118, Fairfield, Ohio, 45018-1118.
